Leftovers of the Scrapped Script to "The Saints of Slumdog City" Plus More!

Like I promised, here is what's left of what I could find on that scrapped script. Shit, I know it's a mess. I apologize that I can't organize it in a much better way due to the limited tools Blogger has. Feel free to sift through any of them if you're interested.

Archive of all the artworks I did during the time I still was writing it on DeviantArt.

And here's an unrelated thread on Crunchyroll's forums to the script of another scrapped project I completely forgot about called "Mahn-GaH!".

"Teacher Student" (Tentative Title): An Adventure That Satirizes Anime, Manga, and Pop Culture
(I'll post everything at the bottom for this link.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Masako's old concept art on DeviantArt:

A character I made for a story I plan on writing.

Bio:

Age: 18

Appearance:

-Female
-Japanese-Korean background
-Shaggy brown hair, neck length
-5" 6
-Energetic, cat-like gold eyes
-Lean, athletic build
-Kind of flat-chested
-Wears low class, funtionality-over-style clothes [i.e. sweats, tank tops, t-shirts, sneakers] (mostly orange because it is her favorite color)
-Angry, wild, or rebellious dimeanor

Personality:

Masako is wild and rebellious, but is silent when needed to be. She is not very social and can be downright rude to people. She likes provoking fights at the academy and picking on her peers. Dispite her tough dimeanor, she is very fragile and sensitive deep down that craves for some kind of companionship, but the problem is that she keeps pushing people away. She hates following or taking orders from people and does what she wants to do. She loves challenges and hates studying. She has a bizarre apetite and can eat almost anything. She loves kids and knows how to identify with them. She hates public officials and the government. She prefers working alone.

Background:

After the U.S. was able to unite the entire world under one corrupt government, every New-American citizen was required to wear an official, government-issued collar disguised as some marvel of technological innovation that was well recieved by the uneducated. Even though these collars functioned as phones, GPS's, and had other cool functions, only the few intelligent citizens were able to understand that it was a form of control where the govt. can monitor every citizen's activity and track and stop any form of uprising or rebellion. It was also made into law that any citizen caught without a collar on or tinkering with it will be put to death right where they stand. As a child, Masako (Proper Child in Japanese) witnessed the brutal executions of both her parents after a bizarre incident in which her collar suddenly went haywire one day while strolling through a public promenade with her parents. The collar deactivated and removed itself from young Masako's neck. Terrified, her parents tried desperately to put it back on. The commotion they made attracted the attention of the people around them and the police nearby. In a desperate attempt, Masako's father took off his collar and put it on his daughter. Unfortunately there was nothing they could do once the police arrived and discovered the crime they had committed. After reminding them of the crime they had committed, the police drew their guns, but before they open fired, Masako's mother dove in front of her husband, but for naught as both were killed by the police's futuristic guns. After the incident, Masako, who was traumatized from what had happened, was placed into a government funded foster home up until age 14, where she escaped to fend for herself in the city. She now attends a mandatory academy where young adults are indoctrinated into being obedient workers. To this day, she still has not forgotten what the government had done to her parents and vows to enact revenge one day once she has the right opportunity.

Abilities:

Living in the poor district where the weakened economy hit hardest had toughened Masako up. Constant interactions with street thugs had taught her proficiency in hand-to-hand combat, a style that resembles Jeet-Kune-Do. Although she possesses no supernatural skill what-so-ever, she has shown incredible feats of human athleticism (i.e. extreme reflexes, superhuman or abnormal strength for a girl her age and build, incredible speed and acrobatics) occaisionally when under intense stress or when angered beyond a point. Also, being a street fighter, she has shown versatility in combat within all environments making use of her surroundings and improvising. Although she is a gifted fighter, she is impusive as she is young, and her arrogance always becomes her downfall. She learned excellent survival skills from being homeless for about two years and she has reasonable intelligence. She has a basic understanding of technology. She is terrible with guns as she dispises them, but is an expert at disarming those with them having dealt multiple times with armed thugs.

Any way here is a sample of the script of a manga in its works that I have been thinking about. Everyone else please read the character descriptions here for character and background information:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-807151/create-a-character?pg=1#44591529
As Masako stumbled the slums of New Japan, injured from a brawl she had intentionally provoked, under a stair way behind a garbage can, she had saw movement that was too irregular to be from an animal. It probably was another thug getting ready to jump her, even though everyone here should know by now not to F-with her.
"Why not get the jump on 'em," she though to herself.
Masako angrily kicked the garbage can away to her shock, reveal a young girl. She was maybe a few years younger than Masako, but something about her other than her injuries screamed something not human. The young girl was badly scuffed up, had dents, was dirty, and was not bleeding. She was visibly terrified and retreated further back into the staircase she was hiding under.
"Help me," she wimpered.

From "Mei ('The Youngest of Sisters' in Japanese)" on DeviantArt

A character in a story I'm thinking about writing.

Bio:

Age: 2 (designed and built to look like a 16 year old girl)

Appearance:

-Identified as a female
-Life-like robot
-Designed to look Japanese
-5" 4
-Short, pink artificial hair with two small ponytails
-Soft looking, pink eyes (capable of changing iris color, but prefers pink)
-Small, petite
-Medium sized breasts
-Cute
-Wears clothes that accentuate her cuteness (i.e. dresses and stuff)
-Innocent or confused looking

Personality:

Mei is friendly, polite, and respectful. She is willing to do any given commands... well... she was designed to. Unlike the other artificial wives built like her, she has the semblance of a free will, but is loyal to those who she call friends. She doesn't have a dominant personality or is willing to cause trouble. She hates violence. She is willing to help you if you need it. She has the mindset of what a girl would have at age 16. She is cowardly to the disdain of others, but will nontheless apologize multiple times for her mistakes. She loves animals and enjoys making friends. she questions whether she truly has a free will or not.

Background:

In what used to be Japan after the U.S. had taken over, marriage had become a thing of the past as life-like cybernetic wives were introduced to the market. These wives served multiple purposes, were forever loyal to the owner, customizable, and above all, perfect. Women in Japan became rare after artificial wives had taken their place. Mei, prefers to be called "Mei-chan", was the latest in AW models. She was a fourth gen bot built with newer innovations. Like all bots, she was designed with a purpose of serving her master, but somehow that purpose became askewed. She began to realise that she had other options, that she was taken advantage of, and that her owner was a fat, gross, pervert. In response to a command for a sexual favor, she refused to acknowledge it. This enraged her owner, who began battering her, which terrified her. In fear of dying, she accidentally pushes him hard enough to fly through a brick wall on the sixth floor of an appartment building. Fearing for her life, she escaped and now hides in the darkness of the streets, damaged and terrified.

Abilities:

The 4th Gen AW models are build to fulfill any task given. As so, they are given enhanced strength that potentially surpasses man. They are equpped with multiple skills and excel at each and everyone of them. In fear of harming the owner, they are not equipped with weapons of any sort, or knowledge of self defense. They are flawless in design and are all programmed with monitorable GPS's. Mei's on the other hand, was damaged after the battering she had recieved from her owner. She is self powered through complex machinery and cannot get tired or feel pain (though she is not invulerable). She is though, capable of empathy and can communicate freely with other AW models even without the use of her mouth. She has access to the internet and can search almost any information, though not for long as she was permanently damaged. She is an excellent cook and can prepare almost any culinary dish and has knowledge of any treatable injuries or medical conditions. She can take pictures or record visuals or sounds with her eyes and ears. She has an uncanny feature of attracting animals to her.

Mei's Backstory from "Can you donate some ideas?" Thread

How about deep into the future, in a dystopian, city-like society where reliance on technology had made people decadent in both morals and values, a company finds profitable success in manufacturing and selling artificial and customizable house wives (of which were styled after the domesticated house wife of the 1940s-50s). They were loyal, eager to please, and would never oppose their masters or they would be destroyed. Because of the huge success of these robot wives, the female population of the city goes into a decline after several generations and the sight of a human woman becomes a rarity, though this shouldn't be directly implied.

Anyway, the story centers around a single unit of the latest of models (5th gen), of which had encountered complications during her manufacturing process. Yet her issues were overlooked and she was subsequently passed off. She is later then sold to a middle aged man who run a small, but fairly successful business. For some time they were happy together, but the man had a serious drinking problem of which made him violent and aggressive. He would often beat and abuse her during his fits of alcoholism, but she would always shrug it off because of how she is designed to be forever faithful and loving.

As the story progresses, the issues in her hardware become more recurring. With each sessions of abuse she becomes a little more sentient each time (learning various emotions including fear, sadness, and loneliness) and eventually questions her very own existence and love for her master. As time progresses, her master's alcoholism becomes a lot worse and eventually aids in ruining his small business. At his peak of anger and aggression after coming home drunk, the robot does something that none had ever done, deny a master's request. She also forms and gives an opinion of their relationship and his alcoholism, which enrages him to the point where he batters her more than ever. Having understood pain and fear, she breaks the biggest rule which was hurting the master. Given that robots have strength surpassing humans in order to undertake arduous work, she pushes him hard through a wall and the impact critically harms him.

Knowing what she had done and fearing what would soon result, she escapes and hides withing the dark corners of the city, with her final fate shrouded in mystery...

"Mahn-GaH!"

Mahn-GaH! is the decided title to the manga due to amount of fun I found in saying it out loud. Contrary to what the title of the thread says, I've decided to tone down the satire out of concern for setting up expectations that I would have to fulfill. Any way, given how short life is, I decided that creating my own manga would be one of the achievements I would accomplish in life. The references I want to draw out in m manga will be obvious, yet at the same time I want to try something a bit original. It will mainly be an action comedy (utilizing Western and Eastern humor) sort of shtick, but I do want the tone of the plot to evolve as the story progresses utilizing themes such as escapism and friendship.

Essentially, the story is about manga jumping. Kind of like in Wreck-It-Ralph, except with manga and anime. The main protagonist, an American English teacher who works in Japan encounters a mysterious manga book and is subsequently taken into a world of manga along with a problematic student from his class. The goal for the unlikely duo is to escape from this reality by "completing" each chapter of the book by fulfilling specific requirements within each universe before moving onto the next chapter.

“Mahn-GaH!” Script
Characters

(Real World - Major)
Johnny Musashi: (23) The protagonist and a Japanese-American. He wields the power of a magical manga book. Though finite, he is capable of utilizing the book's power to alter the reality of the manga world and change the book itself into actual weapons found in other manga and anime. He is a born otaku. Other than being outlandish, he has no significant traits.
Masako Maeda: (17) The heroine, she is inadvertently brought along with Johnny into the world. Both a miscreant and troubled high school student. She is unique for being an integral character that barely cannot speak or understand English. Other unique traits include having an otherworldly appetite and an inexplicable amount of human strength for a young girl of which correlates to her hunger, though it does not reflect her appearance.

Boris- A Russian cyborg assassin. He also works for the “Book Keepers”.
Story:
Johnny, who is unhappy with his life, leaves America to teach English at a Japanese high school despite not knowing any Japanese after encountering the school’s ad online. He then realizes how unhappy and uninteresting Japan truly is and is alienated by the fact that he feels like an outsider. While passing by a thrift store, he picks up a bizarre manga book which he takes with him to work and reads after the day is over at home. He is then brought into the manga world and eventually along with his delinquent student, Masako. Both, an unlikely team, have to work together to return to the real world by “finishing” the book.
Ronin: Wandering Samurai:
To complete the chapters in this universe, the duo must help the protagonist realize his potential and defeat the ultimate evil.
When Johnny arrives (in a setting located within Edo Japan), he uses the power of the book to translate everyone in the world into English, so everyone speaks English instead of Japanese. He meets farmers who escort him to the nearest town overrun by bandits who want to take all of its women. Jin who tries to help is easily brushed away. Johnny jumps in and helps them by utilizing the power of the book and turns it into a weapon. He is successful in scaring them away but the bandits make off with much of the towns women.
Enter Masako who learns the next day back in the real world that her teacher had suddenly disappeared and the school cannot reach him. The day before, she had pick-pocketed him and taken his phone and feeling guilty, decides to take it back to him. Powering it on, she meets Garvis who helps Masako locate Johnny’s apartment. There they encounter the book and are both brought into the world. They crash land in the same universe and are briefly captured by the same bandits who Johnny had encountered before. Masako has trouble communicating with people in the world because now everyone speaks English while she only understands Japanese and fragments of English, so Garvis acts as her translator. Learning of their true intent weirdly which is to eat the women, Masako utilizes the help of the captured women and lead a coup against the bandits of which they defeat and return to the village.
At this point, the story introduces Jin, Etsuko, and Hana. The Johnny tells them of how they came to be. Etsuko reveals that she was once a carrier of the book and teaches them how to leave the book, which is to finish it by passing certain requirements of each chapters of the manga book. Etsuko tells them that to move on, they need to make Jin a hero and to defeat the greater evil.
They fight two greater evils of which include: an evil menace (Akuma) and capitalism. After defeating the greater evil and inciting the most destructive rebellion against the government in their pursuit of defeating greed, they open the gate into the next chapter. Though they offer Etsuko the chance to join them, she refuses. Through the portal, Johnny and Masako accidentally get separated.
The Not-So-Mundane Life of High School Super Star Hiroko and Her Unique Cohorts:
Dobe is on the roof of the high school giving an inner monologue of how he is so different from everyone else and how no one understands him and how even though he has plenty of female admirers, he refuses to commit to either of them and complains of having no friends and for being alone. Johnny’s gate then opens behind him and Johnny is thrust out and pushes Dobe off of the roof, who then lands on a vehicle. Johnny freaks out thinking that he killed the protagonist and finds Masako and learns that they both look different (which is something the universes do to the appearance of the main cast). Johnny being a man in his twenties now looks young like a high school student and Masako looking cuter.
Johnny and Masako run into Hiroko who welcomes them as new classmates and introduces them to her entourage: Kameko, Kimiko, and recently, Kyoko. Johnny explains to everyone the situation they were in, who Johnny and Masako were and about Dobe’s death. Kimiko tells the newcomers that Dobe was an egotistical jerk and how Hiroko would occasionally let him hang out with them much to their dismay. After hearing this, Johnny contemplates that Dobe was not, in fact, the main protagonist and decides to find who the protagonist might be.
Later, when no one’s around, Kyoko is found alone and using a futuristic communicator to contact her leader about finding the owner of the book. He issues her to kill him and to take his book and return to where her leader awaits her.
During the next several days, Johnny and Masako live off as high school students during the day and go off looking for the protagonist by night. Several attempts at Johnny’s life are made throughout with all of them failing. During this time, Johnny begins to enjoy living his life as a Japanese high school student and contemplates not finding the protagonist much to Masako’s dismay. The following days lead into a science fair with Hiroko deciding to build a rocket ship that would launch a satellite into space so she would be able to make contact with aliens someday using illegal fireworks, dynamite sticks, and one hand grenade.
Frustrated that all of her attempts had failed, Kyoko decides to lure Johnny into a trap using her feminine wiles which does work. She lures him to the roof and holds him hostage at gun point with an assault rifle and explains to him her plans like most villains. Before she is able to execute him, Hiroko’s experiment is ignited during judging and launches into the air in a wild frenzy. The loaded rocket rams into Kyoko and carries her into the air along with it, then subsequently explodes in a fantastic fashion. Back on the school ground, Kameko asks Hiroko what she had used to make the rocket and Hiroko tells her.
(Work In Progress)
Chapter 1
(Occurring in the real world) Chapter 1
The story begins with a narration. Johnny Musashi is a Japanese-American young adult of 22 who lives with his two parents and a younger sister whom he shares interest in anime and manga with in a suburb within New Jersey. He is unhappy with his life. After a brief tiff with his parents over being unemployed bum during dinner, he finds an ad from a high school in Japan (Fujitaka) in dire need for an English teacher online while perusing for job applications. He takes it despite having little knowledge of Japan or its language outside of anime and manga and leaves his family forever.
It is night and Johnny is in his room, on his laptop. His room is decorated with all things otaku.
Narrator: “The story begins with a hapless, loser otaku who will very soon embark on the most enviable journey.”
Several panels are of him browsing applications, going to job interviews and being denied.
Johnny: (Monologue): “Yo, my name is Johnny Musashi. I’m 22 and not your typical Japanese-American. First off, my life sucks because I’m a college graduate and I have no job… or friends. It’s even affected my relationship with my parents. By now, my parents thought I would have a career and a place of my own, but because I don’t, they hate me.
Several panels show him watching anime with Ellen on his laptop and reading manga.
Johnny: (Monologue) Whenever I’m not browsing for some non-minimal wage blue collar work on the internet, I’m at home watching anime with my kid sister or reading manga. You have no idea how close I am to losing it.”
It is dinner time and the entire family is at the table. Like the quiet before the battle, an air of aggressive unease lingers throughout the room as everyone eats their meals silently.
Johnny’s mother starts.
Johnny’s Mom: (No eye contact with Johnny) “Well now, how has job searching going, dear?”
Johnny swallows his food.
Johnny: “It’s going fine, Ma. Don’t worry, it will happen.”
Johnny’s Mom: (Still no eye contact and sarcastically) “Well that’s good. At least you’re making some progress.”
She puts food into her mouth. A vein pops out of the side of Johnny’s head. He notes her sarcasm.
Ellen: (Cheerfully) “Don’t worry Johnny. You will find a job because people will like you.”
Johnny: (Happy) “Yes! Thank you, Ellie.”
Johnny looks at his mother and gestures to Ellie with his thumb and chopsticks.
Johnny: “You see? Positivity.”
Ellen smiles, she has rice on her face.
Ellen: “Hee.”
Johnny’s father slams his bowl onto the table.
Johnny’s Dad: (Growling) “Dammit, son! That doesn’t solve the issue! You’re 22, and you still don’t have a long-term job. What the hell!? What did you go to college for!?”
Johnny slams his bowl onto the table in response.
Johnny: (Irritated) “Well I’m sorry that the economy sucks and that fewer businesses are looking for guys like me! Why don’t you step in my shoes for a change!?”
Ellen’s eyes shifts back and forth between the argument as she eats. Only the silhouettes of the two’s shadows blanket the wall.
Johnny’s Dad: (Angrier) “Nothing but sad excuses!”
Johnny gets up from the table.
Johnny: (Frustrated) “Okay, that’s it!”
Johnny quickly wolfs down his rice and slams the bowl onto the table. Angry, he picks up the entire dinner table and tosses it into the kitchen, then storms off.
Johnny is now in his room again looking for applications at his desk.
Johnny: (monologue) “So yeah, that was the typical argument between me and my parents, but this time the table went into the kitchen. I seem to be getting stronger.”
Johnny sighs.
The next panel has him stretching in his chair, and then leaning on his hand thinking.
Johnny: (Monologue) “Sometimes I wish I could be in a manga so I wouldn’t have to deal with this crap. Or maybe, I wish I could work in Japan, and live my life as a Japanese citizen. That would be the life.”
Suddenly, his eyes flash. He searches “applications for work in Japan” on Google and several millions of results show up. He leans forward.
Johnny: (Thinking) “Holy crap! Look at the results! Geez, which one would suit me? Manager? No. Engineer? Ha ha, no. How about…”
He clicks the link of an ad looking for an English teacher and reads the contents.
Johnny: (Thinking) “Fujitaka High School? … In desperate need? … No Japanese required?”
He leans back on his chair and ponders.
Johnny: (Thinking) “I guess I could teach English. It shouldn’t be too hard, after all I do read a lot … granted that it’s manga of course.”
He leans forward again and begins his application.
Johnny: “Well, what the hell. My life sucks, so one more mistake couldn’t hurt.”
2 weeks later, Johnny and his sister are in his room watching anime on his laptop when an alert for an e-mail appears on his screen. He pauses the anime and picks the laptop up.
Johnny: “Sorry Ellie, but this will have to wait.”
Ellen: (Disappointed) “Awwww.”
He opens the e-mail and finds out that he had been hired and was expected to be there in a week before the semester starts. Ecstatic, he squats before Ellen.
Johnny: (Ecstatic) “Hey, guess what Ellie? I got hired!”
Ellen: (Happy) “Hooray!”
Johnny: (Proud) “Yup. I was hired to be an English teacher in Japan at a school that was desperate for an English teacher. So I guess we’ll never see each other again from now on. So while I’m gone, you can have all my stuff…”
Ellen: (Happy) “Yaaay!”
Ellen gets up and runs to Johnny’s otaku stuff and takes it.
Johnny: “Ah… ha ha.”
The next morning, Johnny leaves his house with his suit case and his mother is shouting at the door.
Johnny’s Mother: “Johnny this is the stupidest thing you have ever done! Get back here!”
Johnny: “No, this is my destiny! So, goodbye Ma, I’ve hated you both!”
The next several panels are of him making his way to an international airport and of him in an airborne plane.
Chapter 1.0579

Johnny finally made it to Japan. It is dusk, and Johnny is buying an apartment. He is with the apartment landlord who is giving him the tour of the apartment. She opens the door.
Landlord: “Heele..isu..youl..new..home.”
Johnny looks inside, the apartment. The apartment is only one room. There is only a small coffee table and a TV. He looks at a pamphlet.
Johnny: (Confused) “I… I thought that these were quality appartments.”
Landlord: (Optimistic) “Hai, vedi good.”
Johnny: “But…there’s no lights.”
Panel shows the ceiling. No lights.
Johnny: “…Or windows. Yet it has the inessentials.”
Next panel shows no windows.
Landlord: (Optimistic) “Hai, vedi good.”
Johnny: (Submissive) “Ugh… Oh well. I’ll take it I guess.”
He brings in his suitcase, but stops out of realization and pans his head out of the door.
Johnny: (Shouting) “Wait! What do I do when I need to use the bathroom or shower!?”
A rusty metal pail rolls to his feet followed by a bottle of water.
It is night. Johnny is in the dark and watching a Japanese game show on the television. He is eating instant noodles. He slurps some noodles, but then he feels an ominous presence behind him. He looks over his left shoulder but finds nothing in the dark. He slurps more noodles and turns around to face the TV, but instead faces a female ghost with long black hair. The TV goes out and the room goes dark.
The next panel takes place outside the apartment door. Johnny is standing outside with a little girl with long dark hair. His apartment door is slightly open. A young woman in a sleeping gown runs up to them. She is the young girl’s mother. The woman kneels in front of the girl.
Himeko: (Surprised) “Ara! Hinatea, anata wa doko ni ikimashita ka? Anata wa kono otoko o jama shimashita ka?” (Oh my goodness! Hinatea, where did you go? Did you bother this man?)
Hinatea: Watashi wa naibu no yūrei o sagashite imashita. (I was looking for ghosts inside.)
Himeko: “Ah!”
Himeko stands up and bows to Johnny.
Himeko: “Sumimasen. Shin'nyū no tame ni watashi no musume wa go yōsha kudasai.” (I am so sorry. Please forgive my daughter for intruding.)
Johnny: (Thinking) “Whuh oh, I can’t understand her. What should I say!?”
He ponders hard. Suddenly, Johnny realizes something.
Johnny: (Thinking) “Garvis!”
Johnny whips out his smartphone and turns it on.
Garvis: “Hello, again Master John! How may I be of service?”
Johnny: “Garvis help me out here! Did you hear what she said?
Garvis: “Yes, I believe she is apologizing for having her daughter sneak into your apartment, sir.”
Johnny: “Oh, good. Jeez, I can’t believe I totally forgot that I still have you. Can you tell her everything is ok?”
Garvis: “Certainly.”
Himeko and Hinatea stare in amazement at the conversation Johnny is having with his own phone.
Garvis: “Masutā wa iu: Subete ga junchōdesu.”
Himeko smiles.
Himeko: “Ah, Dōmo arigatōgozaimashita. Hinatea, soreha beddo no tame no jikandesu. Anata wa mōshiwakearimasen kare ni iu.”
Hinatea nods.
Hinatea: “Hm!”
She bows to Johnny.
Hinatea: “Moushiwake arimasen.”
Johnny chuckles and scratches his head in embarrassment.
Suddenly, Hinatea’s eyes flash to Johnny’s door. A ghostly figure of a woman with long dark hair stood in the darkness of the door’s opening. The ghost puts a finger to her mouth for Hinatea to be quiet.
And that's where this project was last seen...
